The Shared Reputation Trap

Every email dispatched from your domain carries two reputations:

  • Domain Reputation: Computed from your DKIM signature and DMARC alignment.
  • IP Reputation: Computed from the historical spam and bounce behavior of the specific IP address sending TCP packets to recipient MX servers.
  • When a marketing manager sends a re-engagement campaign to inactive subscribers, unsubscribe rates and spam button clicks spike. Gmail reacts immediately by applying temporary greylisting (rate throttling) to the sender IP.

    If your password resets and login verification codes share that same IP, your users are caught in the crossfire.

    How Dual-Lane Isolation Works

    SendOFF enforces physical isolation across four distinct layers:

  • API Level: Every API request accepts a mandatory or inferred lane parameter (transactional vs bulk).
  • Queue Level: Independent BullMQ and Redis channels prevent batch marketing jobs from monopolizing worker threads.
  • MTA Sockets: KumoMTA binds separate egress IP subnets for each lane.
  • Suppression Lists: Hard bounces on bulk campaigns are quarantined without affecting the user's ability to receive security notifications.

  • Configuring Lanes in SendOFF

    Using the SendOFF REST API:

    bashSendOFF Verified
    # 1. High-Priority Transactional Send (OTP Lane)
    curl -X POST https://api.sendoff.in/v1/emails \
      -H "Authorization: Bearer $SENDOFF_API_KEY" \
      -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
      -d '{
        "from": "Security <auth@yourdomain.com>",
        "to": ["user@example.com"],
        "subject": "Password reset confirmation",
        "html": "<p>Reset your password here.</p>",
        "lane": "transactional"
      }'

    # 2. Bulk Marketing Send (Paced Lane)
    curl -X POST https://api.sendoff.in/v1/emails \
      -H "Authorization: Bearer $SENDOFF_API_KEY" \
      -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
      -d '{
        "from": "Newsletter <news@yourdomain.com>",
        "to": ["subscribers@example.com"],
        "subject": "Product updates for October",
        "html": "<p>Check out our new features.</p>",
        "lane": "bulk"
      }'

    By separating these two traffic flows, your mission-critical authentication messages remain fast, reliable, and completely protected.
